G1 and G3 manual wheelchair measurement
By using the following instructions to measure your wheelchair, you will be assured that you are ordering the correct chair dimensions and or replacement component dimensions.
Seat Width
To determine seat width of the G1 / G3 manual wheelchair, please measure from the outside edge of the seat panel as per the picture (left). Ensure the chair is folded out but pushing down and out on each side of the seating panel. Try and allow 1cm of clearance on each side of the client eg. if the client measures 44cm across the hips when seated make the chair width 46cm.
Seat Depth
To determine seat depth for the G1 / G3 manually propelled wheelchair, please measure from the front edge to the rear edge of the seat panel as per the photo (left). Try and allow 2 - 3 cm of clearance behind the clients knees / legs and front edge of the seat panel.
Backrest Height
To determine backrest height of a G1 / G3 manual wheelchair, please measure from the top of the seat panel to the top front edge of the backrest panel as per photo 1. Please note that this will be your "effective" or clients required backrest height, not the overall panel size, as the panel extends down below the seat by approximately 2.5cm as per picture 2.
If you are replacing the backrest panel please provide the dimension as per picture 2 (overall panel height).
*Please note: Our panels are made in increments of 3cm eg. 40cm, 43cm, 46cm etc.
For backrest heights exceeding 52cm backrest extensions are required. Backrest extensions are made in increments of 10cm, up to a maximum of 40cm.
